- Abstract
Extra- curricular tutoring becomes more and more prevail among junior high school students. U - sing data from the China Education Panel Survey CCEPS) conducted by National Survey Research Center ( NSRC) at Renmin University of China, the extra-tutoring in key subjects such as English, literature and mathematics is analyzed in this paper. The research in this paper can provide insight into decision-making by the government, schools and parents. The study found that the only children are the main population entering extra-tutoring.From the perspective of school location, the central area has the highest proportion of tutoring students, while the rural area has the lowest proportion of tutoring students. The proportion of students with rural household registration is lower. The higher the education level, the higher the proportion of tutoring students. In terms of the effect of tutoring, tutoring has a positive influence on a ll three subjects, with mathematics being the most influential. English is slightly higher than Chinese, but the effect o f language tutoring is far less than that o f mathematics.
