SOME PRAGUIAN REMARKS ON PRESENT DAY PHONOLOGY.
- Authors

- Abstract
This article presents some remarks of a Prague phonologist on the problems of present-day phonology in Czechoslovakia. The concept of function in phonology and diachronic phonology are discussed together inasmuch as the concept of function proves to be a basic factor in the phonological approach to the phonic data of language, whether one views it from the synchronic or from the diachronic angle. Another basic problem which has been repeatedly tackled by phonological research during the latest decade or two is that of the feature constituting the phoneme. The last topic to be discussed is morphonology.
