- Title
LO STATUTO COMUNALE IN ALCUNI PARERI DI ANDREA ALCIATO.
- Authors
Fugazza, Emanuela
- Abstract
Legal science in the Middle and Modern Ages wrote several works on the validity and scope of the city statute. Andrea Alciato, one of the greatest exponents of 16th century legal doctrine, not only in Italy, and founder of legal humanism, also dealt with the subject in his theoretical works as well as in several consilia he rendered to both private individuals and judges. While the reflections he delivered on the subject of statutes in his theoretical works have repeatedly attracted the interest of historiography, the considerations he expressed in this regard in his consilia are less well known. And it is therefore to this subject that the present contribution is dedicated.
