Title
One bot-infected PC = 600,000 spam messages a day.
Abstract
The article focuses on a study of the behavior of personal computers (PC) at the TRACElabs of U.S.-based Marshal8e6 that were infected with the malware responsible for the nine largest spam botnets in the world. The most efficient spam-spewers of the nine bots were Rustock and Xarvester, according to TRACElabs. Mega-D was ranked as the second most effective spam bot. Twenty-six percent of spams generated in the first quarter of 2009 were attributed by TRACElabs to Rustock.
