- Abstract
The article presents legal developments in marketing relating to the regulation of unfair competition. Regarding advertising, the case "John A. Guziak v. Federal Trade Commission," is discussed, in which a Court of Appeals clarified the extent and scope of the United States Federal Trade Commission's regulatory activities. Regarding nonadvertising promotional methods, the case "Bear Sales Company and E. Robert Bear v. Federal Trade Commission," is discussed, involving the issuance of a cease and desist order on the sale of merchandise by means of games of chance, gift enterprises, lottery schemes or gaming devices. Regarding trademarks and trade names, the case "Standard Oil Company (Kentucky) v. Humble Oil & Refining Co.," is discussed, involving discrepancies over the right to use the Standard Oil trademark.
