- Authors
CADIÑANOS BARDECI, Inocencio
- Abstract
This article discusses the Fuero de Belorado (Charter of Belorado), establishing the region in Burgos as a Spanish municipality by Alfonso I in 1116. The author comments on the details of the charter, which designated Belorado with a degree of autonomy and created a thriving marketplace. He also presents a copy of a Medieval document from this era which stipulates many of these details proscribed by the charter. A brief history leading up to the creation of the charter is also provided, including the civil war between the crown and the Urracas, a noble family in Zamora.
