- Abstract
Lokobe National Park is home to the recently described endemic Nosy Be or Hawk's sportive lemur (Lepilemur tymerlachsonorum). Described in 2006 as a species distinct from Lepilemur dorsalis (Louis et al., 2006), L. tymerlachsonorum has been little studied in the wild. This study aims to provide much needed information about the population and habitat of the species. Transect walks and habitat surveys suggest that L. tymerlachsonorum spends its active time in less dense forest. Trees that L. tymerlachsonorum occupy are usually slightly larger in both width and height than the trees in their immediate surroundings. Population density is estimated at 63.2 individuals/km².
