An essay is presented on the meanings of the concept of inculturation as used by Catholic Church leaders and theologians in the 20th and 21st centuries. It describes how Vatican Council II's concept of culture responded to the Cold War and post-Colonization. Other topics include popes Paul VI, John Paul II, and Benedict XVI; church doctrines regarding marriage and family; and the Church's relationship with its membership.
