- Abstract
A biography is presented for Austrian Archduke Franz Ferdinand, heir to the Habsburg throne of the empire of Austria-Hungary. He was born December 18, 1863, eldest son to Archduke Karl Ludwig and his wife Maria Annunziata. He married Czech Countess Sophie Chotek in 1900, and the couple were assassinated on June 28, 1914, which led to the start of World War I.
