- Abstract
The article discusses the role of historians' political and social biases in the writing of history. According to the author, many historians have used their interpretations of past events as propaganda for their own political and social causes. It is suggested that this practice was especially prevalent from the late 18th to the mid-20th centuries. Particular focus is given to works by historians James Anthony Froude and Thomas Carlyle. Marxist historians and popular history are also discussed.
