- Abstract
The article presents information on British artist John Piper and his mural "The Englishman's Home," which he produced for the 1951 Festival of Britain. It discusses Piper's involvement in, and appreciation for, the architectural community and examines how his work for the festival attempted to provide a modern view of Great Britain that was also aware of its national identity. It explores Piper's influences, including works by the artist Raoul Dufy and architect Le Corbusier. It also discusses how his work for the festival exhibited multiple styles and periods.
