- Abstract
The article presents a critical examination into the article on the 19th-century British invasions of Afghanistan written by Thomas Tulenko, originally published in the June 1980 issue. An overview of the article's context and main thesis is given, noting its lack of addressing Islamic religious fundamentalism in the causes of the conflicts in 1897. Tulenko's conclusions are also addressed, suggesting that his assertions concerning the strategic and historic significance of the second Anglo-Afghan war are valid and proven.
