- Abstract
The article presents an examination of the work of late 19th- and 20th-century Slovene photographer Avgust Berthold (Augustin Arthur Josef Berthold) and explores the relationship between his work as an artistic photographer and the work of Slovene impressionist painters working during the same period. It examines similarities between the subjects of Berthold's work, which were often landscapes, and those of the impressionists. It discusses the techniques that he utilized to produce his images and examines the impact that his work had on both photography and painting.
