- Abstract
This note analyzes the fascicle of the journal Studi di teologia (n. 50; 2013), published by the Istituto di formazione evangelica e documentazione (Padua, Italy), dedicated to the theme Vatican II From an Evangelical Point of View. The fascicle reveals the high level of criticism directed against the Council by Evangelical theologians, but also an awareness of the World Evangelical Alliance's 1986 document An Evangelical Perspective on Roman Catholicism and its evaluations of conciliar teachings and their consequences for "Roman Catholicism". At the same time, the contributions to this fascicle offer but a single interpretative line, one that is dismissive of other interpretations decidedly more positive and constructive on the part of Evangelicalism in places such as Italy and elsewhere in which it is engaged in a "dialogue of charity" with the Church of Rome.
