The article discusses a golden episcopal throne attributed to Antonio Francisco Lisboa held by the Archdiocesan Museum of Sacred Art of Mariana, Brazil, and winged figures from antique art in Renaissance, Baroque, and Rococo art. Topics mentioned include background on the throne, the relationship of the throne to the arrival of the first bishop of Mariana, and the angels and cupids decorating the throne as a reference to the art of antiquity.
