- Authors
Garrard-Burnett, Virginia
- Abstract
The article presents an analysis of the Igreja Universal do Reino de Deus (IURD), a Brazilian Christian denomination, with a focus on the roots of the doctrine known as prosperity theology. It is the author's view that the IURD is a 21st-century variation of Pentecostalism, whose doctrinal origins can be found on American Evangelical churches and their doctrine of health and wealth.
