- Abstract
The article discusses a study of the diagnostic accuracy of procalcitonin and interleukin-6 (IL-6) values for predicting bacteremia and clinical sepsis in febrile neutropenic children with cancer. The study found no difference in procalcitonin levels between febrile neutropenic patients with and without bacteremia. It also showed that concentrations of IL-6 in patients with gram-negative and gram-positive bacteremia were comparable.
