- Abstract
"Political Children: Violence, Labor, and Rights in Peru" by Mikaela Luttrell-Rowland is a valuable contribution to the study of working children and the state in Peru. The author conducted ethnographic fieldwork in Lima, focusing on two different groups of young people: children living in a shantytown and young workers in an activist organization. Luttrell-Rowland explores the experiences of these children and challenges the government's approach to child labor, arguing that it depoliticizes the inequalities faced by vulnerable children. The book emphasizes the importance of recognizing the humanity and perspectives of children and offers a constructive model for scholarship.
