- Abstract
The article discusses the functions of the Correctional Association of New York (CA) in the new prison monitoring paradigm in New York State. It discusses the legislative measure that allows CA to assess the practices and conditions within the prisons. It identifies the restrictions and limitations encountered by CA in performing duties. It explores the new legislative measures requiring other state agencies to oversight the specific components of prison services, and examines how the laws changes CA's role in investigation of conditions and advocacy for change.
