The author explores various approaches to the cartographic study of dialectal diversity particularly for Slavic languages. Topics discussed include the publication of dialect atlases following World War II, the online availability of audio recordings which may contribute to dialectological research, and features of several web sites dedicated to Slavic dialectology such as the resource produced by the Institute for Bulgarian Language of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences.
