- Authors
Klopper, Dirk
- Abstract
The article focuses on Justin Cartwright's novel "White Lightning" where a return to the country explicitly holds out the promise of physical regeneration and imaginative reengagement with the world of natural things. Topics discussed include said novel's concern with the various manifestations of an aesthetic sensibility, the notion of the simple in relation to the complex and how the pastoral addresses the relation between mind and nature and the complex and the simple.
