This article provides insights into the use of cryptocurrency in legal cases and offers advice for financial forensics professionals. It emphasizes the importance of treating cryptocurrency as a financial account and following disclosure requirements in divorce proceedings. The article also addresses objections raised by cryptocurrency exchanges when asked to provide records to the court and highlights the risks they face for non-compliance. It discusses objections related to cost, burden, privacy, and proprietary information, which can raise concerns about regulatory compliance. The author suggests that practitioners should be well-informed about cryptocurrency records and objections in order to effectively navigate these issues.
