- Title
A Survival Test for ECM.
- Authors
MOYER, REED
- Abstract
The article discusses the European Common Market (ECM). This integration of several nations' economies was designed to provide for the free movement of capital and labor among the member nations, establish a framework to support common transport policies, put a damper on the member nations' merger and cartel activities, equalize the social security benefits and costs among member countries, and arrange for the training of workers losing employment from the adverse impact of Common Market problems. The ECM's main impact stems from the tariff-cutting provisions that seek to convert the European economic community into a free trade region.
