The Family Meeting: Starting the Conversation #223.
- Authors
Weissman, David E.; Quill, Timothy E.; Arnold, Robert M.
- Abstract
The article offers information on the early stages in conducting family meeting of patients in hospice and palliative care about end-of-life objectives. According to the authors, the first steps include introductions of the people involved and establishing the goals of the meeting. After the first steps have been achieved, the meeting leader should identify how far does the patient's family know, offer a medical review and silence after the bad news is conveyed.
