- Abstract
The present paper aims to highlight the multidisciplinary role of papillary fingerprints by presenting an integrative synthesis of scientific research results conducted by us, which were materialized in new methods with a positive impact for forensics and medicine. At the beginning, brief general considerations are presented regarding the definition of fingerprints, the areas in which they can be used, as well as the details in the structure of fingerprints on the basis of which forensic identification can be performed. Then are described the methodologies for a series of scientific research studies that have conducted to the elaboration of the following methods: „Method of detecting fingerprints created on plant supports (leaves) based on changes in cell structure", „Method of determining the age of papillary fingerprints and blood group membership” and „Method of early diagnosis of systemic scleroderma using dermatoglyphic (fingerprint) analysis”.
