The article analyzes and compares the trajectories of the construction of national feeling in Brazil and Argentina. It describes, in broad terms, the peculiar path taken for the construction of a Brazilian identity, from its not properly nationalist bases to the consolidation of a national identity. It highlights the role played by the La Plata region as a hub for otherness that contributed to the construction of Brazilian identity.
