The article discusses certain employee benefits federal court cases litigated under the U.S. Employee Retirement Income Security Act of 1974 (ERISA) during the period 2006-2010, including Metropolitan Life Insurance Co. v. Glenn and Firestone Tire & Rubber Co. v. Bruch. It presents differences between disability plan litigation and litigation involving other types of plans. It discusses general descriptive statistics and the statistical associations mentioned within the subset of ERISA cases.
