- Abstract
In this article the author discusses the effort of the residents of Harlan County for the transition of the county's coal economy into renewable energy and energy efficiency economy in Kentucky. He stresses that the public has been becoming aware of the role of coal in climate change and environmental devastation. Also investigated are the works of alternative energy advocacy groups Kentuckians For The Commonwealth (KFTC) and the Mountain Association for Community Economic Development (MACED).
