- Abstract
Çığır magazine, a total of 193 issues, monthly, youth, opion, and art magazine, was published in the period of single party in Turkey by Hıfzı Oğuz Bekata between 1933-1948. The magazine which has a slogan "A Collective and Organized Youth" aimed to bring youth together within a national unity around a single idea. In such an era in which the basis of the republic was established, there was a need for an organized youth instead of the one with different ideologies. In the same way, as a result of the struggle by Çığır, in the 4th great general assembly of CHP in 1935, the issue of establishing a youth organization was included in the party program. In this study, the owner and the editor, Hıfzı Oğuz Bekata, and the first 32 issues in which the theme was "youth" were examined. Within this perspective, the main youth movements and the political conditions were scrutinized and the publication purpose of the magazine, its importance and the articles on youth by Hıfzı Oğuz were studied. Thus, an era in which revolutions and the republic were formed and the youth issue in that era were displayed through Çığır and Hıfzı Oğuz.
