- Title
Estimating the Incidence of Symptomatic Postoperative Venous Thromboembolism: The Importance of Perspective.
- Authors
Heit, John A.
- Abstract
The author offers views on estimating the incidence of symptomatic postoperative venous thromboembolism (VTE). The author cites a study that estimates symptomatic in-hospital incidence of acute symptomatic VTE among patients receiving prophylaxis after total or partial hip arthroplasty (TPHR) and total or partial knee arthroplasty (TPKR). The author suggests increasing the period of observation to accurately collect VTE outcome events that mirror the entire period of VTE risk after THR and TKR.
