- Abstract
The University of Derby offers a strong History program that focuses on modern British history from the eighteenth century. The curriculum emphasizes the interrelationships between the different parts of the UK and the wider British Isles, challenging present-mindedness and providing a broader context for understanding developments in modern British history. The program also ensures that students understand Britain's place in wider European and global history. The curriculum design emphasizes the development of research skills and offers opportunities for students to engage with external organizations and present their research at conferences. The program aims to produce confident and articulate graduates who can critically analyze historical themes and develop their own independent perspectives.
