- Abstract
The bond that the individual has with the organization is fundamental to the understanding of a series of behaviors favorable to business performance. Understanding this connection impacts directly in management processes as committed employees collaborate with increased productivity, with the quality of production, they also reduce costs, reduce absenteeism and turnover rates, produce best results, increase motivation and pro-activity (BASTOS e AGUIAR, 2015). To expand the knowledge concerning the scientific production related to organizational commitment, this study aimed to examine the characteristics of publications about organizational commitment in Web of Science data base, from 2000 to 2014, and to identify which topics studied together are the most relevant (hot topics). This work is characterized as exploratory and descriptive, with a bibliometric character. As the most relevant results of 619 analyzed publications, it was found that the scientific production related to the theme gradually increased until the year 2012, which represent the year with the biggest production. The publications are mainly related to two issue areas: "Business Economics" and "Psychology". The United States leads the ranking of countries that publish on the theme, followed by China. It was verified that commitment has a great interest from the international scientific community, being the combination of Organizational commitment and satisfaction the most researched link (hot topic).
