- Abstract
The article describes the case of an 88 year-old female patient with heart failure and decreased level of consciousness who experienced decreased urinary output and was admitted to the cardiovascular intensive care unit (CVIU). The consulting nurse examines the bladder scanner used on the patient to determine the reason for the retention of fluid in the bladder. The patient was found to be also suffering from mild ascites of unknown origin.
