- Abstract
The article discusses German-American miner, butcher, and cattle rancher Carston Conrad Kohrs. The article discusses Kohrs's early efforts as a miner, his acceptance of a job at the Montana butcher shop of Bannack, Montana, resident Henry Crawford, and Kohrs establishing his own butcher shop in Virginia City, Montana. It also discusses his foray into cattle ranching, the success in ranching that led to the moniker "Cattle King of Montana," and his participation in driving cattle.
