- Abstract
The general aim of this investigation was to determine communication management of the agenda for internationalizing doctorates at the University of the Zulia, in the graduate studies divisions for Legal and Political Sciences, Economic and Social Sciences and Humanities and Education. The study emphasized contributions by the authors Ramirez (2005), Serna (2000), Monzón (2001), Wimmer and Dominick (2001), Rivera (2008), Otegui (2008), Núñez (2008), Trejo (2001), Gonzalez (1997), Gacel-Ávila (2000), Garda Guadilla (2001) and Jaramillo and De Lisio (2004), among others. Research was of the quantitative type and utilized the semi-structured interview technique directed toward the directors of Interinstitutional Relations, General Communication, the Divisions of Graduate Studies and the Coordinators of Doctorate Programs, all at the University of Zulia. The research proposed to integrate communicational management in the academic agenda to promote policies for internationalizing doctorates at the University of the Zulia, within the framework of interinstitutional agreements. Results demonstrated that a weakness definitely exists in the basic organizational principle and there is little interest in projecting a corporate image, although significant advances have been made by the Direction for Interinstitutional Relations and the Division of Graduate Studies for the Faculty of Humanities and Education in positioning themselves world-wide in the area.
