- Abstract
This work addresses the current need for a revitalized approach to the teaching and learning process of Early Modern History, grounded in social history, which integrates cutting-edge interdisciplinary perspectives and cross-cutting themes such as the study of age and life cycles. Specifically, the proposal focuses on a particular study concerning experiences related to orphanhood as a social and familial phenomenon and the processes of guardianship and curatorship at the end of the Old Regime in Castile. Its objectives encompass fostering a deeper understanding of everyday life and experiences, cultivating skills in historical analysis and interpretation, and comprehending social inequalities and their impact on individuals and communities throughout history. This is achieved through the application of primary sources and digital tools, promoting a more active, relevant, and significant historical education, assisting students in drawing correlations between past and present, and understanding change and continuity by highlighting the individual experiences and social circumstances that shape history in a proposal focused on high school or university levels.
