- Abstract
The article offers information on the historical discourse in Uruguay from the mid-1950s until the 1973 coup, which linked social conflict to external Marxist influences. Topics include the role of the United States and Uruguayan military in promoting this narrative; the media campaign that framed the crisis as orchestrated by communist infiltration; and the continued influence of this discourse in contemporary works such as "El cielo por asalto" by Hebert Gatto.
