Abstract
The article offers information on the blood transfusion activity performed under the Continuing Medical Education Program. It describes the risk of bacterial contamination of apheresis platelets and septic transfusion reactions in a national hemovigilance program, and the characteristics of an unusual anaerobic contaminant. It discusses the instructions on receiving, applicability and acceptance of continuing medical education credit for this activity.
