- Title
The challenges presented by decomposition.
- Authors
Byard, Roger; Tsokos, Michael
- Abstract
The author reviews several effects of decomposition during examinations of bodies for postmortem. The author highlights several issues that have arisen due to this decomposition. The combination of bacterial putrefaction and autolysis from tissue self-digestion leads to venous marbeling, skin blisters and insect colonization. Diogenes syndrome among people living separately and isolated is also discussed. Finding coronary arteries during their stenosis is difficult in a decomposed heart.
