- Abstract
The article focuses on a study conducted on rigor mortis which happens after muscle flaccidity. It helps in determining the time of death and is a useful tool in forensic sciences. Rigor mortis can be classified as accelerated rigor mortis or instant rigor mortis. The author discuses cadaveric spasm which is an instantaneous rigor mortis without muscle flaccidity. There is no pathophysiological basis to define this phenomenon and it is suggested that the term should not be used.
