- Abstract
The article discusses a court case wherein the Ninth Circuit stated that plaintiff and other appellants had a reasonable expectation of privacy in the content of text messages. The Ninth Circuit held that the search in question violated the Fourth Amendment rights because Quon and the other appellants had a reasonable expectation of privacy in the content of the text messages and the scope of the search conducted by the Ontario Police Department (OPD) search was unreasonable in scope.
