The author states that the number of funding applications submitted to the U.S. National Institutes of Health (NIH) has doubled between 1998 and 2007. The author further argues that funding worries affecting American scientists and researchers is continually increasing and suggests that chemical biologists must engage in broader funding issues and proposal evaluation process.
