- Abstract
The article focuses on a research conducted in order to evaluate the morphology and evolutionary origins of reduced thoracic limb in butterflies. It discusses the possible developmental differences and ecological factors involved in the evolution of reduced limbs. The study revealed that the members of the butterfly families Nymphalidae and Riodinidae have reduced first thoracic limbs.
