- Authors
Chappell, Duncan
- Abstract
The article discusses the impact of pornographic and violent material on the behaviour of individuals, particularly in children and teenagers in Australia. A study is conducted by the South Australian Council for Children's Films and Television Inc. and suggests that many of the young people under the age of 18 are gaining access to explicit material in the form of R-rated and X-rated videos. Moreover, the growth of these materials and video cassette recorders (VCRs) in Australian homes raise real problems concerning the home use of violent and sexual materials by young people. Further, findings of the study has called for increased censorship of movies on video.
