- Abstract
A critique is presented of the novel "Bring Larks and Heroes" by Australian author Thomas Keneally, focusing on the author's portrayal of 18th century Australian penal colonies and themes of oppression. Marginalization in historiography, social change in Australia in the 1960s, and themes of civilization versus nature are discussed, as well as convicts, punishment, and social life in the book.
