The article discusses the biblical story of Noah and the Ark with particular focus given to the place of animals in the story, and examines literary references to it in the novel "Disgrace" by J. M. Coetzee and the story "The Unnamable" by Samuel Beckett. The author's exploration of human desires to communicate with animals is also presented.
