- Title
Youth as Victims and Offenders of Homicide.
- Authors
Carcach, Carlos
- Abstract
The article focuses on the issue of homicides involving youth in Australia. It tries to reveal the main factors associated with youth involvement by analysing the characteristics of offenders, victims and the relations between them. It also offers a comparison between older people and youth involvement in homicide. It notes that Australians are concerned with the reduction of firearm related violence as offenders used this to kill their victims in which the major offenders are those of age 25 years and over. It provides situational measures that can be implemented to prevent youth homicide such as the increased of police presence in places known to attract large numbers of young people and the use of environmental design.
