The author offers insights on significant events which contributed to U.S. Navy (USN) aviation safety activities. Topics discussed include the establishment of the Naval Air Training and Operating Procedures Standardization (NATOPS) program and Replacement Air Groups (RAG) that would be responsible for naval aircraft maintenance, scope of responsibilities of Navy or Marine squadron maintenance officers, and the publication of updated maintenance and safety manuals.
