AIPAC Hijacks Rep. Cori Bush's Race-and Our Elections.

- Abstract
Representative Cori Bush, a progressive black woman from St. Louis, MO, lost her primary election due to outside funding from pro-Israel lobby groups. This is the second time such groups have influenced a race, with the first being the defeat of Congressman Jamaal Bowman. The ads against Bowman focused on his character rather than Israel, presenting a narrative of an angry black man versus a calm white man. Pro-Israel groups spent $17 million on Bowman's race, making it the most expensive primary in US history. AIPAC then targeted Cori Bush, spending nearly $9 million on attack ads that distorted her record and manipulated her appearance. The ads did not mention Israel because most Americans, especially in liberal Democrat districts, disagree with AIPAC's positions. AIPAC's actions demonstrate their fear of losing the public debate over Israeli policies. To stop US support for Israel's actions and protect elections, it is necessary to challenge AIPAC.
