- Title
Angels in Florida: Stevens and Sublimation.
- Authors
Berger, Charles
- Abstract
This article discusses the concept of sublimation in poems of Wallace Stevens. It argues that Stevens found a way to submerge and sublimate in his poem "The Idea of Order at Key West." Meanwhile, the poem "Evening Without Angels" puts Stevensian sublimation into play. It also asserts that Stevens tends to spatialize the dialectic of descent and sublimation in his Floridian poems.
